Kelly Sunshine is a Group C participant who runs a boutique catering service.
Kelly has called Denver home for 19 years. For five of those years, she was unhoused, living on the streets and in shelters, before finding her way into transitional living four years ago.
This pivotal change led her to discover and get involved with the Denver Basic Income Project. With the support of the project, she has been able to cover essential expenses like hygiene products and bus fares.
“Every time the middle of the month came along, I always knew I would have, like, hygiene, bus fare. Those things I didn’t have.”
Kelly feels a deep sense of gratitude toward the City of Denver for funding this initiative, which has played a crucial role in helping her regain stability and move forward in her life.
