Mark Gaskin

One of the first DBIP participants, Mark was able to pay off his car and purchase a trailer.

*Trigger Warning: Discussion of suicide below.

Mark Gaskin has been part of DBIP since its inception, being one of the initial recipients of the guaranteed income program. After losing his job due to a work-related accident, Mark found himself homeless and in a dire mental state.

DBIP’s financial support was crucial, helping him avoid suicide during a time when he saw no future. The funds allowed him to pay off his car and purchase a trailer with a tent.

While still involved in litigation and caring for his 81-year-old aunt, Mark emphasizes that DBIP has significantly improved his situation. “DBIP has made life a whole lot easier,” he says, acknowledging that although life isn’t perfect, it is far better than it was before the program’s assistance.

Thanks to DBIP, I’m sustaining.
